It was so long ago that no one can remember when the dogs first appeared on the streets of the small, modern-day town called Raymont. There were movements to eradicate the strays, but they turned out to be futile and the people have long since given up hope at giving them homes again -- they know the dogs would just escape once more. Over time, three packs formed: Rani, the calm and loyal; Kaira, the proud and fierce; Belisaire, the nurturing and kind. Territories were established, but a fourth group didn't like the pack way of life and remained living solitary: the loners. The dogs, once careful pets but now hardy waifs, live life on the edge. Remain a housedog or flee to the streets: it's your choice.

A new pack has formed in Raymont, unknown to most of the dogs. The new pack, aptly named the Mafia, is rather evil: they terrorize the packs and wreak havoc in the usually calm and peaceful land. Rani and Balto fought back against the Mafia, but still they were afraid. The Mafia killed and hurt several dogs, but still the two packs refused to surrender. But Kaira watched the Mafia and decided they were good. They looked up to this evil pack and decided to team up with it. Rani and Balto buckled under the strain of the two other packs, but still they tried to fight back. A battle looms in the distance... can you survive?

Keri padded slowly along the beach, carefully placing her paws so that she didn't slip and fall. Her thoughts whirled; they were mostly focused on the dog who followed along behind her: the depressed Irish Wolfhound named Black. Keri sighed as she walked. She didn't know what to do... she didn't know what to think. What was wrong with Black, and why was he hallucinating? Why was he so sad all the time, and who was Sami? Who did he love -- Sami or Keri? Oh, I so hope he loves me, Keri thought desperately. I think I love him... I don't know, I need more time to think about this! She had just met this dog, and yet there was some sort of strange connection between them. Even though they fought, there was still a cloud of love that surrounded them, bringing them together.
Keri's thoughts were preoccupied as she trotted across the beach. Her concentration wavered and she didn't notice the slippery rocks beneath her. Suddenly, Keri's paws skittered over one of the rocks. She fought to keep her balance, but what could she do? "Whoah--" she cried as her paws splayed out and she tipped dangerously to the side. Her black paws slid out from beneath her and Keri came crashing down. "Oh!" Keri gasped as she hit the ground, her body hitting the sharp, slippery rocks and pebbles that covered the beach. Her shoulder slammed into one of the sharper rocks, causing Keri to gasp in pain. She lay on the ground for a moment before straightening out, shifting so that she lay in a normal position. Worriedly glancing towards her shoulder, Keri saw that the rock had cut her and the slowly bleeding cut was covered in damp dirt. Keri grimaced in pain and disgust as she began to lick the cut clean.

You take the breath right out of me...
A huge black dog covered in wiry fur made his way slowly over the slippery wet rocks. His head and tail were hanging low to the ground. His eyes were staring blankly at the rocks as he passed over them. His mind was too busy to register the hoot of an owl, or the sound of the waves lapping against the shore. He couldn't hear the sounds of the dog in front of him, it was a world of silence in this moment as he thought and though of what was going on. He had never physically seen her when he wasn't dreaming or had his eyes closed. But after he had met the collie....he had seen her. She had spoke to him, he had smelled her, he had felt her... He was so confused and upset he just wanted to lay down. He heard the dog ahead of him gasp loudly and he raised his head. He saw her slip on the wet rocks and cut her shoulder. He sat down beside her as she licked her wound. "What'd you do that for?" he asked her, looking at her cut, but not really seeing it because his mind still concentrated on recent events. "Are we almost there yet?" he added.

"I just fell," Keri answered in between licks. "The rocks were slippery..." Her tongue lapped over the scrape again and again, cleaning off the blood and dirt. She paused to turn her head and lick at the air beside her, trying to get some of the dirt off of her tongue and looking really weird in the process. Keri got to her feet slowly. She took a few steps to see if she was okay -- she limped a bit, but was fine other than that. "I think I'm okay now," she told Black happily. Her black lips curved into a small grin as Black spoke, wanting to know if they were at their destination yet. "Um..." Keri tipped her head to the side, thinking. "Well, the Belisaire dens aren't that far from here, so I guess you could just sleep here. I know it's not really that nice or comfortable, but... it's less rocky up there." She pointed with her muzzle to a small area not too far away from where they were standing. "Why don't you settle down over there?" Keri suggested, taking a step in that direction.

Now and then when I see her face She takes me away to that special place
He stood up and shook out his dampening wiry coat. "Okay." he said. He looked at her quizically when she stuck out her tounge in mid-air and began licking....nothing. 'And she thinks I'm strange!...' he thought. Then the collie stood up and limped slowly for a few steps. "Then let's go." he said, falling into step behind her as he had been before. When she said he would be sleeping around here, he quickly looked around the area. It seemed....cold....wet....uncomfortable...and any other thing you wouldn't look for in a place to sleep. He shrugged and continued on. She suggested a place that seemed a little less rocky and with a small sigh, he followed her up there. He could only hope that hallucinations of her didn't haunt him in the night, the worst thing for him right now would be a sleepless night.
And if I stared too long I'd probably break down and cry

Keri grimaced as she registered Black's distaste at his sleeping place. "I'm really sorry it's not a better place," she sighed. "I still want you -- I mean, I still think you should sleep with me in the dens." Keri winced as her words slipped and she accidentally revealed that she wanted to sleep with Black. With her ears flicking quickly in embarrassment, Keri led the way up a small hill. "Here," she woofed, waving her tail towards a small grassy spot. "See? It's... nice." Wandering over to it, she circled the grassy patch a few times then looked expectantly to Black. "Like it?" The border collie heaved a small sigh as she realized that her departure was coming up. I wish I could stay with him for longer, Keri moaned to herself.

She's got eyes of the bluest skies As if they thought of rain
He noticed her see realize he didn't like the place she had brought him. He followed her and stood beside her. "It's fine." he said "I've slept in worse places..." He was going to go find a spot when she almost said she wanted to sleep with him. He turned and looked at her with a look of pure fear. He would not...could not.....sleep with another dog. It would hurt his mind to much. He took a deep breath and followed her at a distance up a little hill. He saw a little area with grass on it and this eased his sleep worry. "Yeah...It is nice." he said, passing her up and settling down on it. The grass was pretty soft and he laid down with a satisfied sigh and put his head on his paws. "Sooo...." he said slowly, looking up at Keri
